Date Night in Minnesota..

Something magical happens on a dogsled. It sounds weird. But.. there usually comes a moment. When the dogs settle and silence ensues… and you look up at the snow covered trees and starry sky and it all feels primitive. The only thing to do is thank God – because it’s so heavenly.

Adventure – outside, under the stars… best date ever.

Dogsled at any age!

Finally, Minnesota… enough snow to run the dogs! Our first official run was fun because we made it a family event. Bon fire, s’mores, and granny on a sled! One of the best moments of the day was when a guy brought his daughter over to meet the dogs. The girl happened to be a big dogsledding fan but had never been on a sled – so Chloe gave her a 2 mile ride. She was all smiles when they returned and we asked if her feet were frozen (wearing crocs) – she said, “yes but it was worth it!” From Granny’s to youngsters, it’s really fun introducing people to the unique and amazing sport of dog mushing.

More snow to come! Hike!

Mush 4 XMas!

Bearskin Lodge on the Gunflint Trail; a gorgeous lodge with multiple winter activity options –  including dogsledding! This is where the girls had their first experience dog mushing with renowned musher, Erik Simula. (*Read my first blog for more info.) If you’re looking for an awesome family adventure, check it out – they have a tab for dog mushing on their website. What a great Xmas gift!

Sleddog Calendars! $20

Year number one: our adventure owning sled dogs – from purchasing the team to ending up at the Iditarod! I’ve included pictures and coordinating stories from our mishaps/adventures! Hmm… this may be a preamble to my next book! If you’d like a calendar, message me. I will be selling them for $20 – any profits will be sent to the Berington twins for their 2016 Iditarod race.
